Freedom From Creditor Harassment With The Filing Of A Chapter 7 Bankruptcy

Chapter 7 bankruptcy is a powerful tool. Filing can immediately put an end to harassing phone calls, letters and other forms of harassment from creditors. Even before you file, if you tell creditors you have an attorney, they must stop calling you. Once you file, they are forbidden to attempt to collect on those debts by any means.

If you are overwhelmed by debt and ready to stop the harassing collection activities, contact me, Jason Karavias, Esq., an experienced Chapter 7 bankruptcy lawyer. Call 412-223-7924 or contact me online to arrange for a free, no-obligation consultation. I take a client-centered approach, providing personalized, efficient and responsive service.

How Bankruptcy Stops Collection Activities

When you file a Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition, collection activity on your debts must immediately cease, pursuant to a court order called the “automatic stay.” This prohibits most creditors from attempting to collect on the debts after the bankruptcy case is filed. When you hire me to assess your case for Chapter 7, I will file your petition in a timely manner, which will immediately:

  • Stop phone calls from creditors
  • Stop wage garnishments
  • Stop creditors from sending letters to you and your family members
  • Stop creditors from pursuing lawsuits against you for nonpayment of debts
  • Stop creditors with judgments against you from collecting on them, freezing your bank accounts or garnishing your wages

If a creditor continues to harass you, the company is in violation of federal law. Contact me immediately, if a creditor contacts you after your bankruptcy petition is filed. I will take immediate action to ensure that the harassment ends.

Stop The Harassing Collection Calls

I am a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania attorney working to stop creditor harassment for my clients through Chapter 7 bankruptcy. My goal is to help you put the past behind you and make a fresh financial start. Keep in mind that certain types of debt, including student loans, back taxes and back child support, cannot be wiped out in bankruptcy. If any debts of these kinds are part of your big picture, I can advise you on pathways to relief from aggressive collections in these areas, too.

Call 412-223-7924 or send me an email to arrange a free consultation. I provide representation in Allegheny County and the surrounding area.

My firm is a debt relief agency. I help people file for bankruptcy relief under the Bankruptcy Code.
